Orange County Superior Court Implementing New Filing Ribbon for Electronically Filed Documents

Please be aware that beginning Friday, June 28th, 2019, the Orange County Superior Court will be implementing a new filing ribbon for electronically filed and electronically received documents to replace the standard file stamp currently being used. This change is a part of the Court’s continuous effort to improve efficiency and provide better service to the public. The new filing ribbon will be affixed at the top of the first page of the filing document and complies with the requirements set forth under California Rules of Court 2.259.

A new addition will be the Register of Action (“ROA”) number, which will now be provided as part of the ribbon, allowing the public to reference the ROA number when filing subsequent related documents. The ribbon will also be stamped in blue color to provide distinction from the text of the document.

Below is an example of the old file stamp used by OCSC:

An example of the new electronic filing ribbon, which will begin appearing this Friday is shown below:

For electronically received documents, the ribbon is similar except the text “Electronically Received” will appear instead of “Electronically Filed.” Example below:

Note that for the new ribbon, the ROA number is listed at the end for quick reference. Also, please be aware that standard file stamps will continue to be used and affixed on non-electronically filed and received documents. We are providing you this notice so that you are aware of this new change occurring at OCSC. This will not require any procedural change on your or your staff’s part – this is for information only.
